Music At Zouch

At Zouch, we want every child to enjoy music, feel confident taking part, and develop a love of music that lasts a lifetime.

Through our music lessons, children learn to sing, play instruments, listen carefully to music, and create their own musical ideas. As they move through the school, they build the skills and confidence needed to become successful performers, composers and listeners.

Children are introduced to a wide variety of music from different countries, cultures and time periods. This helps them develop an appreciation of different musical styles and encourages respect for the traditions and communities they come from.

We follow the Kapow Primary Music Scheme, which provides exciting and progressive lessons that help children develop their musical knowledge and skills year by year. We also work with a specialist music teacher who teaches pupils in Years 4 and 6, giving them additional opportunities to develop their musical abilities and helping them achieve the expectations set out in the National Curriculum.

Our aim is for every child to leave Zouch with happy musical memories, strong musical foundations and a love of music that continues throughout their lives.

Other Musical Opportunities

Children in Year 3 receive recorder lessons, and children in Year 6 take part in brass lessons taught by a specialist music teacher during the school day. These sessions provide valuable opportunities for children to develop their instrumental skills and musical confidence. In addition, families can choose to pay for extra music lessons, including guitar, ukulele or rock band sessions provided by specialist music teachers through iRock and other visiting music services.
