As a member of The White Horse Federation, our school is committed to embracing environmentally friendly working practises and doing its part to ensure our planet is protected long into the future.
It is deeply important to our school that we work to preserve the balance between what we take from our environment and what we put back into it. With this goal in mind, we're pleased to announce that we are taking the next step in this important journey with the installation of solar photovoltaic panels.
We expect the installation work to begin on Saturday 2nd March and be completed by Tuesday 12th March. During this period it may be necessary for scaffolding to be used on the school site. However, we anticipate little to no disruption will be caused. We thank you for your patience while this work is completed.
These solar panel electricity systems will capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells and convert it into usable electricity to power our school. These ingenious systems don't need direct sunlight to work, as they can generate electricity even on cloudy days. The result is a cleaner way to provide energy for our school and a greener way to power our pupils' learning.
In addition to providing a cleaner source of energy, these panels represent The White Horse Federation's commitment to expanding the resources available to our school. When our school is not using all of the energy produced, it can be exported to the grid, meaning we will also receive an export tariff income.
All of this is to say nothing of the energy bill savings made possible by photovoltaic panel systems. In fact, our school could reduce our energy bills by up to 80%. What this means is less expenditure on utilities and more money that can be reinvested into facilities and resources to promote better outcomes for each of our pupils.
Our school and The White Horse Federation are excited to be taking this crucial step toward greener, more sustainable education as we work to deliver the best possible education for every child.
