The pupils and teachers at Zouch Academy were delighted to be given the opportunity to miss lessons and enjoy a relaxing drink last Thursday morning — but don’t worry, it was all for a good cause.
Since 1990, the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning has helped to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event has proven to be extremely successful, with more than £200 million being raised over the last 29 years, helping the charity continue the fight against cancer.
This year, we held our annual coffee morning celebration in Zany Zebras. Mrs Pelling, our family support worker, kindly hosted the event, and it was a great occasion enjoyed by all.
Mr Williams, Assistant Principal, said: "The event, as always, was a great success, with a good turnout from parents and visitors. Any leftover cakes were quickly finished in the staff room as teachers made their own contributions to the morning. Thank you to Mrs Pelling for organising the event."
Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. Every two minutes. Macmillan Cancer Support is just one of the fantastic charities that puts so much time and effort into fighting cancer and helping those with the disease.
With millions of people across the UK being affected by cancer every day, Zouch Academy is proud to have made a contribution to the Macmillan Cancer Support cause.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the pupils, parents, and visitors who donated, as well as the staff who arranged the event and made our fundraising possible.
