Our Nursery at Zouch Academy is called Duckling Class and is led by a team of qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioners. As we are part of the school there are lots of opportunities for the nursery children to be involved in school activities, which enables the children to make a seamless transition from nursery into our two reception classes.
The Nursery classroom provides the children with a safe environment that encourages them to take risks, learn through exploration and supports them in reaching their full potential. Each child is assigned a key worker who builds positive relationships with parents/carers to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.
Throughout the session your child will take part in carefully planned adult led activities when the focus may be developing social skills, language and thinking skills, large and fine motor movements, early Phonetic awareness and Maths. The children also have lots of opportunities to take part in a wide variety of activities to develop the whole child which they can access and explore independently.
We have a large outside area which is used all year round by our nursery children. Children access a range of activities in our outside area including den building, sand and water play and making mud pies in our very own mud kitchen. Children within our early years also have the opportunity to engage in Forest School sessions which enable the children to explore and experience the natural world through hands-on activities outdoors.
